Flying to New Orleans

New Orleans is one of the most exciting cities in the United States – a city of culture, of celebration, and of music. Whether you’re going for the Mardi Gras, to soak up the atmosphere of the home of Jazz or just to get away from it all with the family, New Orleans has something to offer.

Moneysupermarket.com says "New Orleans has rediscovered its celebratory spirit that had once established it as America's party capital. As a notable centre for jazz and the blues, and the home of a world famous Mardi Gras festival, much of the city's attraction comes in its vibe," and there’s no reason why you shouldn’t experience that vibe for the lowest price you can pay.

There are a number of ways to save money on flights to New Orleans (As with all USA Flights), and so long as you know what to look for, you can save yourself a decent amount of money, which you can spend while enjoying yourself in the Big Easy!

First of all, you should consider allowing a degree of flexibility when booking your flights to the USA. Sometimes travelling just a day earlier or later can save you a huge amount of cash. Quite often, travelling mid-week can cost far less as fewer people travel at this time, and as a result airlines drop the prices on these flights quite severely. Obviously, if you’re staying in a hotel, then you’ll need to make sure that staying an extra night won’t completely negate the saving made by travelling a day later, but if you can afford some flexibility in your travel plans, you could save yourself a packet. Also, if you can avoid travelling around main holiday dates you will likely save some money. Once again, as more people travel on these days, the airlines charge more for flights.

Another great way to save yourself a bundle is to book as far in advance as possible. Yes, someone you know might have got a great last minute last deal on a flight to the USA, but more often than not, the later you book your flights the more you’ll have to pay. If possible, book flights a month or more in advance; quite often you can save yourself quite a respectable wedge of cash in doing so.

The main thing to do though, is to shop around thoroughly for prices before you book. Don’t assume that the first price you get is the cheapest, even if it is less than you expect – Travelsupermarket offers a comparison on flights to new Orleans as well as other destinations all over the USA and further afield – helping you to save both time and money, commodities nobody seems to have enough of anymore.

City continues
to recover - Brad Pitt helping

New Orleans was ready for Mardi Gras just six months after Hurricane Katrina hit.

The storm spared the city's French Quarter and Garden District and major attractions such as the National D-Day Museum, Harrah's casino and Cafe du Monde have reopened.

The New Orleans Aquarium is now open.
